20 Endangered Languages in 2020

20 languages in 2020

2019 might have been the International Year of Indigenous Languages (and hey, if you were interested in that, then keep your eyes out for 2022-2032!), but I didn’t want to lose any of the motivation that year brought heading into 2020. So, I’ve come up with my own challenge…

Old English: A Holiday Mini-Challenge

Old English Holiday Mini-Challenge

We might be wrapping this year up, but with just a couple of weeks to go, I’ve found myself another challenge to take part in. It’s a mini-challenge, being hosted over on the Language Learner’s Forum, and I’m really excited for it to begin.

Why I’m Setting Weekly Goals For Language Learning (& my goals for the second week of 2019)

Hi, all! First things first, Happy New Year! I hope you’re all feeling fresh and excited and ready to tackle the next twelve months.

I am—I didn’t really have a chance to work out any New Year’s goals in December so instead I’ve spent the last week thinking about what it is I want to achieve this year.

#365daysoflanglearning – Day 52

Hi, guys!

Today’s prompt is another one that’s short and sweet: Learn an idiom in the language you’re learning.

Idioms are really useful in any language–not only will they help you to sound more fluent, they also help to give you some insight into the culture you’re learning about, too. Plus, they’re really fun!

Let me know if you find any you like!

Here’s the picture of the prompt if you’d like to share it:

#365daysoflanglearning – Day 51

Hi, guys!

So, what do you like to talk about? Sport? Films? Books? It’s important to know–because when you’re learning a new language, you’re going to want to be able to talk about these things in that language as well.

I like to talk about food. A lot. And the fun thing about food is that we basically all end up talking about it because we all need it! 😉

Today’s prompt, then, is a food-related reading one: Read a recipe in the language you’re learning.

That’s it! If you’re feeling ambitious, note down your new words and bookmark some recipes to try later…

Here’s your pic to share the prompt and I’ll see you tomorrow!
